Crookedstar's PromiseEdit

In the prologue, a terrified Echomist calls for her mate, Hailstar, as the RiverClan camp begins to flood. As Hailstar attempts to find her, Echomist shrieks once more, her yowl muffled by holding one of her kits in her jaws. Meanwhile, another one of the kits is seen clinging to her back. Echomist stares at a nest of twigs as it spins away from her and Volekit struggles to cling to the collapsing woven twigs.

Hailstar rescues Volekit and instructs Echomist to follow Timberfur to the elders' den. She nods, though her eyes were large with fear, and her fur is flattened to her body from the heavy rain. As the flood continues to rise, Hailstar urges his clanmates to exit the elders' den and Echomist stares at Hailstar, asking where they should go.
