- Shadow appears in the prologue with the other three original leaders, River, Thunder, and Wind. The four of them argue with a badger named Midnight, who told Sol, a loner, about the Clans. The founders are worried for their Clans, because Sol has a lot of power now. Shadow says she wants to rip Midnight's throat out, only she knows it won't do anything to change what has happened.
